Sungai Liang Roadblock Irks Motorists

A traffic police noted that the routine roadblock aimed to reduce the rate of accidents in view of the school holidays. However, some people said the roadblock had caused unnecessary traffic congestion and expressed anger and frustration at being stuck in the traffic jam for such a long time.
A big increase in the number of commuters on the road has been recorded in the past two days since the return of Haj pilgrims to the country.
A motorist who drove to the airport to fetch her parents returning from the Haj expressed her anger and frustration as she was caught in the traffic for over two hours and was not able to reach the airport on time to officially welcome them.
Another commuter said the journey from home to his work place usually takes about 40 minutes but now has turned into a two-hour ordeal which was frustrating.
"It is depressing because you are helpless and sitting in the car when you can be doing something productive elsewhere," said a frustrated commuter.
Police noted that the routine roadblock is scheduled to take place for a week.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
