The Long Journey

From Ghroepani down, we met herds of goats being shepherded down to Pokhara. Apparently these goats, literally tens of thousands in a seaso

n were being brought from Tibet by foot, a distance of 200 to 300 km to Pokhara for sale. Each herd is being accompanied by 6 to 10 young men and takes about four to six weeks to reach down to Pokhara. Along the way some of the goats would have died or gone astray. I really have utter respect for the shepherds for their patience and hard work in doing such a long and arduous journey to send the goats to the market. This to me is reminiscence of the middle ages where human endeavours and old traditional way is still to be seen with our own eyes.
