Today we saw a panoramic view of Brunei River and Kampung Ayer. This was from Terindak Restaurant located at the Handicraft Centre. I don't know how long this restaurant has been in business but it is definitely quite classy and different. And the view was just amazing.Today is also when our youngest is coming out of age. He is 13 years old.
In the midst of his reading the satirical Animal Farm book from school, he wanted to read something different. So there he was sitting down reading a slightly more serious book written by Martin Meredith called The State of Africa.

I
t's a far cry from Animal Farm but similar characters like Napolean, boxer and so on and the doctrine that all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others are to be found in real life in the State of Africa. The fact is in the rush of independence and desire for nationhood, similar selfish and self enriching characters plague the continent and have brought most of the countries battered, begging and kneeling on their knees today. It took me months to read this book, but our boy is already deep reading the early days of Rhodesia of what nowadays is called Zimbabwe.
